The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says it has identified 124 Nigerians for deportation as part of its immigration enforcement targeting foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes.
The agency announced the development in a statement published on its website, describing those listed as among the “worst of the worst” criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
While the DHS published the names and photographs of those listed, it did not disclose when the deportations would take place or specify the offences committed by each individual.
According to the agency, the deportations form part of a broader immigration enforcement programme under President Donald Trump, aimed at removing foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes.
The DHS said the exercise is being carried out by ICE as part of the administration’s mass deportation policy, beginning with individuals considered to pose the greatest public safety risk.
The latest announcement follows a similar action in February 2026, when the DHS identified 79 Nigerians for deportation over convictions that included fraud, drug trafficking, assault, manslaughter and robbery.
The development also comes weeks after the United States imposed partial visa restrictions on Nigerian citizens, citing concerns over identity management, information sharing, visa overstay rates and security screening.
The latest deportation plans are part of the Trump administration’s broader immigration enforcement strategy since the President returned to office in January 2025.
