Nigeria’s YellowGreens cricket team departs for Namibia ahead of a T20 and 50-over Tri-Series against Namibia and Hong Kong China
The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has announced a 16-man squad for the YellowGreens’ upcoming tour of Namibia, where the team will compete in a T20 and 50-over Tri-Series against hosts Namibia and Hong Kong China.
The squad, led by captain Sulaimon Runsewe, departed Nigeria on Tuesday as preparations intensify for an important international assignment designed to sharpen the team ahead of future global competitions.
The selected team combines experienced players and emerging talents, reflecting the Federation’s plan to build a stronger side capable of competing in both white-ball formats. Officials say the tour will also allow the technical crew to assess combinations and track player development against strong opposition.
Among the notable inclusions are Chima Akachukwu and Miracle Akhigbe, who return to the national team after a spell away. Their return is expected to strengthen the squad’s depth and bring added experience to the campaign.
The team will initially work under coaches Leke Oyede and Tamuno John, while newly appointed Head Coach and High Performance Manager Stephen Magongo will join the delegation later in Namibia. His arrival forms part of efforts to strengthen the national team structure and improve performance standards.
The technical crew also includes analyst Jamal Okechukwu, strength and conditioning coach Seye Olympio, and physiotherapist Timothy Adesomowo, who will support player fitness and performance throughout the tour.
The Namibia Tri-Series offers the YellowGreens valuable international exposure as they prepare to face both Namibia and Hong Kong China in T20 and 50-over matches.
The Nigeria Cricket Federation has urged fans to support the team as they represent the country on the international stage.
