Governor Dauda Lawal unveils Zamfara’s first 10-year development plan in Gusau.
Zamfara State has launched a 10-year development plan aimed at driving long-term growth, improving governance, and reducing poverty.
Governor Dauda Lawal said the 2025–2034 State Development Plan is the first comprehensive long-term strategy in the state’s recent history.
He unveiled the plan on Friday at the J.B. Yakubu Secretariat in Gusau. The state also confirmed that KPMG Advisory led the development process, working with government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders for eight months.

Governor Lawal said the plan aligns with national and global frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals, Nigeria’s National Development Plan 2050, and the African Union Agenda 2063.
“It sets clear targets and a monitoring framework to ensure transparency,” he said, adding that the plan aims to position Zamfara as a model for economic transformation in Africa.
The governor said the state will leverage its strengths in agriculture and natural resources to spur mechanised farming, agro-processing, job creation, and food security.
He described the initiative as a turning point for the state, calling it a “purposeful plan” to restore stability and expand opportunities for citizens.
