The Nigeria Police Force has invited Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Moshood Jimoh and social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, for questioning over allegations made against the senior police officer.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement posted on X on Tuesday.
He said the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) has invited Jimoh for questioning over the allegations raised against him.
The FCID in Abuja also formally invited VeryDarkMan on July 30, 2026, to appear before investigators and substantiate the allegations he made publicly.
The police said the invitations were part of efforts to investigate credible allegations of misconduct, regardless of the rank of the officer involved or the status of the complainant.
The development comes amid a public controversy involving VeryDarkMan and AIG Jimoh.
The Force also clarified that the criminal matter referenced in VeryDarkMan’s recent comments had already been investigated and taken to court following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
It stressed that the case is now before a court of competent jurisdiction and its determination rests solely with the judiciary.
“The Force will not try this case in the media, nor will it allow its outcome to be shaped by public campaigns or commentary seeking to prejudge the officers or parties involved,” the statement said.
The police reaffirmed its commitment to due process, institutional discipline and the rule of law, saying allegations of misconduct would be subjected to proper investigation rather than media trials.
