Officials receive the second batch of Nigerian returnees from South Africa at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The Federal Government has stepped up support for Nigerians returning from South Africa, introducing financial assistance and reintegration measures aimed at helping evacuees rebuild their lives.
Sixty-six Nigerians arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday night, bringing the number of returnees evacuated from South Africa to more than three hundred within the month.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) said the latest evacuation reflects ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable Nigerians abroad while ensuring their smooth reintegration into society upon return.

Government agencies and private organisations provided immediate assistance to the returnees, including financial support, communication packages and welfare services. Imo State indigenes among the group received support from the state government, while other beneficiaries received cash assistance and data packages.
Officials said the intervention underscores the growing importance of reintegration programmes for Nigerians returning from difficult situations overseas. They noted that access to financial support and social services remains critical to helping returnees settle and become economically productive.
Speaking on behalf of the NiDCOM Chairman, Dipo Onabowale said efforts are underway to address logistical challenges and ensure that all registered Nigerians who wish to return home are evacuated safely.
The returnees expressed appreciation for the assistance, describing the support packages and warm reception as timely interventions that would help them begin a new chapter after their return to Nigeria.
