Own Goal Opens the Door, Ifeanyi Seals Win
Nigeria took the lead through an own goal by the Malawian side, setting the tone for a dominant outing. The Falconets later doubled their advantage through Kindness Ifeanyi, who finished calmly to put the game beyond reach.
The result gives Nigeria a comfortable cushion heading into the decisive return leg.

Falconets Eye Another Global Appearance
A powerhouse in women’s youth football, the Falconets have featured in every edition of the tournament and are now within touching distance of extending that record.
Nigeria advanced to this stage after defeating Senegal 3-1 on aggregate, while Malawi progressed with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Guinea-Bissau.
All Eyes on Second Leg in Malawi
The return leg is scheduled for May 9, 2026, at the Bingu National Stadium, where the aggregate winner will secure qualification for the 2026 tournament in Poland this September.
With a two-goal advantage, Nigeria heads into the tie as clear favourites, but will need to maintain focus to seal qualification.
