The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will hold its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, where key decisions on minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cut-off marks will be determined.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
Meeting to Hold in Abuja
According to the statement, the high-level meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium.
It will bring together major stakeholders in Nigeria’s tertiary education system to deliberate on admission benchmarks and policy direction for the 2026/2027 academic session.
FG to Unveil Key Policy Directions
JAMB disclosed that the Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa, will outline key policy directions during the meeting.
“The Board’s annual policy meeting on admissions is a crucial gathering where stakeholders decide minimum tolerable UTME marks, admission guidelines, and policies for tertiary institutions,” the statement noted.
Admission Guidelines
Participants expected at the meeting include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers across tertiary institutions.
Regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will also be in attendance.
ther Agencies, Awards on Agenda
The Board noted that goodwill messages are expected from agencies including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The event will also feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), aimed at encouraging compliance with admission guidelines and improving standards in tertiary education.

Focus on 2026/2027 Admission
JAMB emphasised that the meeting will formally set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise, stressing the need for strict adherence to established guidelines by all institutions.
