The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero and removed the Vice-Chancellor alongside two Deputy Vice-Chancellors from office following the outcome of a visitation panel review.
The affected deputies are those overseeing Academics and Administration.
The decision was reached after the State Executive Council considered recommendations submitted by the panel set up to assess the affairs of the university.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the government said the dissolution of the governing council was approved based on the panel’s findings.

The statement added that the Registrar and Bursar were also relieved of their appointments, while the appointment of Abba Muhammad Adua was terminated.
To steer the institution through the transition, the government appointed Samaila Arzika Mungadi as Sole Administrator with the mandate to stabilise governance and restore academic integrity.
He is expected to oversee the university pending the reconstitution of a new governing council and the appointment of new principal officers.
According to the statement, the decision takes immediate effect from April 30, 2026. The government also commended members of the visitation panel for what it described as a thorough review that guided the council’s action.
