The National Assembly has postponed its resumption from the annual recess, moving plenary sessions from September 23 to October 7, 2025.
The National Assembly NASS, has extended its legislative recess by two weeks, moving the resumption of plenary by the Senate and House of Representatives from September 15 to September 29, 2026.
The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, announced the new date following directives from the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
Ogunlana said ongoing rehabilitation work in the two chambers necessitated the extension to give contractors and relevant authorities more time to complete the work.
According to him, the adjustment would ensure that the facilities are ready for effective legislative proceedings when lawmakers return.
The federal lawmakers began their annual legislative recess on July 23 following the adjournment of plenary.
Ogunlana advised senators and members of the House of Representatives to take note of the new date and adjust their legislative schedules accordingly.
