The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ratified sweeping constitutional reforms and inaugurated a new National Working Committee (NWC) led by David Mark, marking a significant internal reset ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At its national convention in Abuja, 1,471 of 1,576 accredited delegates—about 94 percent—voted in favour of the amendments, signalling broad support for structural changes within the party.
The convention, held at the Rainbow Event Centre, adopted key resolutions from recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings. These include waivers on membership requirements, suspension of zoning arrangements for executive offices, and new provisions allowing flexibility in filling vacant positions.

Delegates also approved the dissolution of the Chief Ralph Nwosu-led NWC, formally transferring authority to the newly constituted leadership under Mark.
In his acceptance speech, Mark described the convention as a turning point for party unity and organisation, expressing confidence in ADC’s prospects.
“This marks the beginning of our journey to the Villa,” he said, underscoring the party’s presidential ambitions.
The convention further enforced disciplinary measures, expelling factional chairman Nafiu Bala and lawmaker Leke Abejide, alongside others, over alleged anti-party activities.
