Greenbull RFC celebrate their 12–0 victory over Isukwuato RFC to win the South East Rugby Tournament title.
Greenbull RFC delivered a commanding performance to defeat Isukwuato RFC 12–0, securing the South East Rugby Tournament title in emphatic fashion.
The competition, organised by the Southeast Rugby Football Association in partnership with the Martina Martins Seed Foundation and Msportslink, featured five teams across the region, showcasing emerging rugby talent and strengthening grassroots development.
Participating teams included Greenbull RFC, Isukwuato RFC, Oteji RFC, AJ-Green RFC, and Coal City RFC.

Greenbull Victory
In the final, Greenbull RFC combined a solid defensive structure with aggressive line speed and efficient ruck play, consistently forcing their opponents into difficult attacking situations.
Their dominance translated into points, with two well-executed tries and a successful conversion sealing a comprehensive shutout win.
Isukwuato RFC finished as runners-up after a spirited campaign, while Oteji RFC secured third place. AJ-Green RFC and Coal City RFC placed fourth and fifth respectively.
Building Rugby at the Grassroots
Beyond the matches, the tournament incorporated seminars and workshops focused on youth development, safe play, and core rugby fundamentals, underscoring a broader commitment to nurturing the next generation of players.
Speaking after the event, Southeast Zonal Representative on the board of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, Onyekachi Ibegbulam, commended the level of participation and dedication demonstrated by teams and supporters.
He highlighted the sacrifices made by clubs to sustain and grow rugby within the region.
Stakeholders Back Growth of Rugby
The organisers also acknowledged key stakeholders, including Anderson Akaliro, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Umuahia North State Constituency, for his continued support toward grassroots rugby development.

Special recognition was given to Ugochukwu Anunobi for his consistent encouragement, alongside partners, officials, volunteers, coaches, and medical teams whose collective contributions ensured the tournament’s success.
Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding rugby in the South East, describing the competition as a vital platform for talent discovery and community engagement through sport.
