US President Donald Trump has threatened to take legal action against Trevor Noah, host of the 68th Grammy Awards, following remarks that linked Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during the live broadcast.
The comments came moments after Noah congratulated Billie Eilish on winning Song of the Year for Wildflower.
Turning to political satire, the comedian quipped, “Wow. That’s a Grammy that every artist wants — almost as much as Trump wants Greenland,” referencing Trump’s past statements about acquiring the autonomous Arctic territory.
Noah then added, “Which makes sense because, since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”

The joke marked a rare political moment for Noah, who has largely avoided such commentary during his tenure and has announced that this year will be his final time hosting the Grammys after six appearances.

Trump reacted sharply on his Truth Social platform, condemning both the awards show and the host.
He described the Grammys as “the WORST and virtually unwatchable” before issuing a direct rebuttal to Noah’s remarks.
“I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media,” Trump wrote.
The Republican further attacked Noah personally, calling the South African comedian a “total loser” who needs to “get his facts straight.”
“I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C. … Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!” Trump added.
