Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has announced the safe release of 38 individuals abducted during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
In a statement on Sunday, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, described the successful rescue as the result of coordinated efforts by security agencies and government officials.
“After many days of hard work by security forces and government representatives, HE AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted in a Christ Apostolic Church attack in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State,” the statement partly read.
Governor AbdulRazaq credited President Bola Tinubu for his direct involvement in securing the release. “This success is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who personally led the efforts to free the abductees. The abductees were freed today, November 23,” the statement added.
The statement recalled that President Tinubu had postponed his scheduled G20 trip to South Africa to supervise security measures in both Kwara and Kebbi states. “The President called off his planned trip to attend to the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States. He also directed heightened security deployments in Kwara, underlining his firm commitment to the safety and well-being of our citizens and Nigerians as a whole,” it said.
Governor AbdulRazaq further expressed gratitude to federal and state security agencies, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, which deployed four new tactical teams to Kwara State on the President’s directive.
He also acknowledged the support of other stakeholders whose involvement contributed to the safe return of the abductees.
