INEC officials presenting Certificates of Return to elected candidates after the June 20 bye-elections across several states.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to winners of the June 20, 2026, bye-elections held across Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano States.
The presentation was conducted on behalf of INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu.
The commission confirmed the development in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday.
Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to prioritise effective representation of their constituents.
She said the primary responsibility of elected officials is to serve the people diligently and ensure their interests are properly represented.
“The most important responsibility is to represent the people well,” she said.
She also noted that Certificates of Return would be presented to winners of the Kebbi State Zuru State Constituency election and the Ekiti State governorship election.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded strong performances in the bye-elections, winning seats in Ondo, Nasarawa, Kano and Kebbi States.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) retained the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.
