In a statement on Wednesday, Governor Fintiri explained that the decision followed careful review and recommendations from the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, adding that the inmates had shown remarkable improvement in behaviour.
“Therefore, in the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in line with the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, I have granted pardon to six persons who have served various jail terms and have significantly demonstrated good conduct over the years,” the governor said.

He ordered their immediate release, directing prison authorities to give effect to the pardon without delay. The discharged inmates are: Wamari Godwin, Abraham Marksunil, David Paul, Ibrahim Adamu, Usman Inuwa and Sani Yahaya
Governor Fintiri said the gesture reflects the spirit of national celebration and underscores the need for mercy and second chances in justice administration.
