African Democratic Congress (ADC) has asked members to resign from their current parties and fully back the opposition coalition, aiming to challenge APC and PDP dominance in 2027.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has directed its members to resign from their current political parties and fully align with the opposition coalition.
ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday after a caucus meeting, saying the decision followed extensive consultations with senior leaders and political stakeholders.
According to Abdullahi, internal rifts within the party had been resolved, paving the way for a unified front. He said the move is aimed at building momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however, dismissed the directive, insisting it posed no threat to their structures or electoral chances.
Despite this, the ADC stressed that only a consolidated opposition platform could effectively challenge Nigeria’s two dominant parties and provide citizens with a credible alternative.
