
Washington Spirit have recalled Nigerian midfielder Deborah Abiodun from Dallas Trinity, with the Super Falcons star expected to strengthen the squad ahead of the NWSL season’s final stretch.
Nigerian international Deborah Abiodun has been recalled by National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Washington Spirit after a successful loan spell at Dallas Trinity.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who signed a three-year deal with the Spirit in January with an option through 2028, was initially loaned to Dallas to gain consistent playing time. At Trinity, she logged over 750 minutes across 14 appearances, including eight starts, impressing with her energy and composure.
Spirit’s interim General Manager, Nathan Minion, praised her progress: “We’re thrilled to bring Deb back as we approach the home stretch of the season. After following her performances with Dallas and Nigeria this year, we’re confident she’ll help us achieve our goals.”

Abiodun, who made her name at the University of Pittsburgh, returns to Washington at a critical stage of the season, with her versatility and international experience expected to bolster the club’s push for a strong league finish.
