Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has pledged to prioritise people-centred economic growth in his second term, with a focus on translating infrastructure development and public spending into tangible benefits for residents.
Oyebanji made the commitment on Friday in Ado-Ekiti during his inauguration for a second term in office.
The ceremony was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; and other political leaders.
The governor acknowledged the economic pressures facing households, particularly the rising costs of food, transportation, education and other essential needs. He stressed that government policies must provide practical relief and expand economic opportunities for citizens.
According to him, the administration’s development agenda would prioritise improved livelihoods, stronger businesses, productive agriculture, better public services and greater economic security for families.
Oyebanji said road infrastructure should enable farmers to transport their produce to markets promptly and reduce post-harvest losses, while reliable electricity would support industrialisation, boost productivity and help small businesses sustain their operations.
He emphasised that the success of his second term would be measured by the extent to which government investments improve the living conditions of residents, create opportunities and strengthen the state’s economy.
