Nigeria continued their impressive run at the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Africa Group III qualifiers in Botswana with a commanding 3-0 victory over Namibia on Tuesday, making it two wins from two in the competition.
Team Nigeria, represented by Success Ogunjobi, Oyinlomo Quadre and Khadijat Mohammed, dominated the tie from start to finish. Ogunjobi set the tone with a convincing 6-0, 6-3 victory over Rieke Honiball in the opening singles match.
Quadre maintained the momentum with a ruthless 6-0, 6-1 win against Mari Van Schalkwyk to hand Nigeria an unassailable 2-0 lead before teaming up with Ogunjobi in the doubles to defeat Joanivia Bezuidenhout and Taimi Nashiku 6-1, 6-3 and complete the clean sweep.
The victory keeps Nigeria second in Group C behind Madagascar, who remain top after winning all their matches without dropping a set.
Nigeria will now face Madagascar in their final group fixture on Wednesday, with the winner expected to finish top of the group and move a step closer to securing promotion.
The Group winners, alongside the best-performing team from the preliminary round-robin stage, will advance to the semi-final playoffs, where the successful teams will earn promotion to the Europe/Africa Group II of the Billie Jean King Cup for the 2027 season.
