Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday visited the pupils and teachers rescued from captivity at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are receiving medical treatment and psychological care.
The victims, who were abducted by gunmen in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026, spent more than 50 days in captivity before regaining their freedom.
The Federal Government announced their rescue on Friday, with the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirming that security agencies successfully secured the release of all the captives.
Governor Makinde’s visit comes a day after the successful rescue operation, as the victims continue to receive medical attention and support following their ordeal.
A video released on Saturday showed the governor interacting with the rescued pupils, teachers and medical personnel at the hospital.
