President Bola Tinubu addressing lawmakers during a national event after transmitting a Constitution Amendment Bill seeking the establishment of state police
President Bola Tinubu has met with Nigeria’s service chiefs to review the country’s security situation and assess ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the nation.
The strategic meeting, held behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, brought together the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other service chiefs.
During the meeting, the security chiefs briefed the President on current operations and measures being implemented to address security challenges in different parts of the country.
They reported improvements in the security situation and reaffirmed their commitment to consolidating recent gains through stronger intelligence gathering and enhanced operational coordination.
The meeting also emphasised closer collaboration with neighbouring countries to combat cross-border security threats and improve regional stability.
The review comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to address terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
It also follows the administration’s push for state policing, with the proposed legal framework currently before the National Assembly as part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
