The 2026 National Division One and Division Two Volleyball Leagues delivered another round of intense action on Day Eight in Abuja, as Wikki Spikers, Rhino Spikers, QAT Spikers and NY Spikers recorded important victories in the race for promotion and honours.
In the Men’s Division One, Wikki Spikers continued their strong run with a 3–1 win over Kada Kings.
Wikki took control early, winning the first two sets 25–16 and 25–18 before Kada Kings responded with a 25–17 win in the third set. However, Wikki regained momentum to close out the fourth set 25–21 and secure maximum points.
Wikki Spikers head coach, Monday Dada, attributed the win to preparation and discipline, saying the team executed its game plan effectively despite a tough contest.
He also encouraged his players to use the league as a platform for career advancement, noting that scouts from bigger clubs were watching their performances.
Elsewhere in Men’s Division One, Rhino Spikers defeated Sword VC 3–1 in a competitive encounter.
Rhino won the first set 25–21, lost the second 25–17, but bounced back strongly to take the third set 25–10 and edged a tight fourth set 25–23 to seal victory.
In the Women’s Division One, QAT Spikers staged a strong comeback to defeat Caliphate Spikers 3–1.
After losing the opening set 25–19, QAT recovered to win the next three sets 25–21, 31–29 and 25–20 in one of the day’s most closely contested matches.
NY Spikers also recorded a 3–1 win over ACE Angels.
NY Spikers claimed the first two sets 25–23 and 25–18 before ACE Angels fought back with a 25–12 third-set win. However, NY Spikers regrouped to win the fourth set 25–21 and close out the match.
In Men’s Division Two, Plateau Rocks defeated Caliphate Spikers 3–1.
Plateau Rocks dominated the opening set 25–9, lost the second 25–20, but recovered to win the third 28–26 and the fourth 25–19 to complete the win.
As the league enters a decisive phase, teams continue to battle for crucial points in the push for promotion and championship success.
