More than 2,000 widows in Abuja have received food items and cash support as part of an outreach programme targeting vulnerable households amid rising living costs.
The distribution organised by the CEO of Blake Resort Uzochukwu Akunedozi, on April 3, 2026, formed part of an annual outreach programme introduced in 2023.
Items distributed included rice, tomato paste, groundnut oil, and cash support, with more than 2,000 widows from different parts of the Federal Capital Territory listed as beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Akunedozi said the initiative is aimed at providing support to widows and low-income households.
He noted that the programme has been sustained annually, with an increase in the number of beneficiaries over time.
According to him, the outreach has also included educational support in previous editions, with scholarships awarded to children from disadvantaged homes.
Some beneficiaries described the assistance as helpful in addressing immediate household needs amid prevailing economic conditions.
They also agreed that the initiative reflects ongoing efforts by individuals to provide support to vulnerable groups, particularly in the context of rising living costs.
