The championship, featuring young cricket talents from across Nigeria’s regions, saw intense competition in both the boys’ and girls’ categories as teams battled for early advantage in the tournament.
Boys’ Category: North-West, South-East Teams
In the boys’ division, the North-West and South-East teams delivered commanding performances that highlighted their growing dominance in youth cricket.

North-West vs North-Central
North-West posted a competitive 118/7 in 25 overs, with David Garba anchoring the innings through a determined 39 runs off 40 balls.

Garba later returned with the ball to claim three key wickets, helping dismiss North-Central for 61 runs, sealing a convincing 57-run victory for North-West.
South-East vs North-East
South-East produced one of the most remarkable bowling performances of the tournament, dismissing North-East for just 14 runs in 9.2 overs.
The chase was completed in only 1.2 overs, securing a 10-wicket victory. Echem Chukwuemeka emerged as the standout performer, claiming an impressive five wickets for three runs.
The victories further strengthened the positions of North-West and South-East at the top of the boys’ standings, leaving other regional teams under pressure to regroup ahead of the next fixtures.
Girls’ Category
The girls’ matches delivered tense, tactical contests, with low-scoring games and strong bowling performances defining the outcomes.

South-West vs North-Central
South-West edged North-Central by two wickets in the most closely contested match of the day.
Chasing 83 runs, Isijola Shalom led the innings with a resilient 27 runs, while North-Central’s Fatima Musa impressed with a brilliant four wickets for seven runs, underlining the intensity of the contest.
North-West vs North-East
North-West secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory after Elizabeth Emmanuel produced a disciplined bowling performance, claiming three wickets for seven runs to restrict North-East to 45 runs.
The chase was guided by Emmanuel Eneta, who contributed 16 runs, helping North-West seal victory in 7.3 overs.
With these results, the championship standings in both categories are beginning to take shape as teams compete for crucial points in the opening round of the tournament.
Cricket stakeholders say the performances reflect the growing depth of youth cricket development programmes promoted by the Nigeria Cricket Federation.
