Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge following a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle
Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge, following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle that left the club just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.
Spurs are 16th in the table and have failed to win any of their past eight league games , their longest winless run since October 2008.
Over the last 17 Premier League matches, the North London side has won only two games, collecting just 12 points.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Tottenham confirmed the decision:
“The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.”
Frank, previously manager of London rivals Brentford, signed a contract with Spurs until 2028 but was unable to reverse the team’s struggling league form.
Despite his difficulties in the Premier League, Frank guided Spurs to automatic qualification for the Champions League last 16 by finishing fourth in their group.

The Dane’s record this season reflects mixed fortunes: seven wins, eight draws, and 11 defeats in league play, contrasted with stronger performances in European competition.
Tottenham’s statement also praised Frank’s dedication:
“Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
The club has also struggled in domestic cup competitions, exiting the League Cup in October after a defeat to Newcastle and falling to Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup last month.
