Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has entered a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association, Anti-Corruption Committee (NBA-ACC) to strengthen the fight against corruption and reinforce ethical standards within Nigeria’s legal profession.
The collaboration was formalised on Thursday with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja. The agreement signals a renewed commitment by both institutions to promote integrity, accountability and the rule of law.
A second MoU was also signed between the NBA-ACC and the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN), the ICPC’s training and research arm. The agreement is aimed at strengthening institutional and human capacity through education, research, professional training and certification programmes.
Speaking at the event, ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN, described the partnership as a deliberate response to the need for collective action against corruption. He noted that the collaboration would harmonise enforcement with prevention, capacity building, public enlightenment and ethical re-orientation.

Aliyu also stressed the role of ACAN in developing a new generation of legal practitioners for whom integrity is non-negotiable.
On his part, Chairman of the NBA Anti-Corruption Committee, Professor Babafemi A. Badejo, said the agreements would promote ethical conduct within the legal profession, enhance professional capacity, raise public awareness and support policy reforms.
Both organisations expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen the justice system, improve public trust and advance transparency and accountability across Nigeria’s governance framework.
