A diesel-laden tanker spilled its contents on Liverpool Bridge, Lagos, on Monday, forcing authorities to divert traffic for safety.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) said emergency officials, including the Lagos State Fire Service, Nigeria Police, FRSC, DSS, and Nigeria Ports Authority, were on site to prevent fire and ensure evacuation.
Videos showed residents collecting diesel in jerrycans and buckets, despite the risk of fire. Fortunately, no fire outbreak was reported.
LASTMA later confirmed that the road has reopened after the diesel was neutralised by firefighters. Traffic is expected to improve as a tow truck prepares to remove the tanker.

It remains unclear whether the tanker’s brakes failed, causing the spill.
