NSCDC players celebrate after defeating previously unbeaten CNS Spikers in straight sets during the CGC Volleyball Premier League in Abuja.
The third phase of the CGC Volleyball Premier League in Abuja continued to produce exciting contests as Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) halted CNS Spikers’ unbeaten streak in the men’s category while several top teams maintained their winning momentum across Day 6 and Day 7 fixtures.
The headline result came on Day 7 when NSCDC swept aside previously unbeaten CNS Spikers 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23), handing them their first defeat of the competition in commanding fashion.
Nigeria Customs Service also remained in impressive form, recording straight-set victories over Kano Pillars and Ajase Ipo on consecutive days, while COAS Spikers defeated Ajase Ipo 3-1 after cruising past Life Camp VC 3-0 on Day 6.
In other men’s matches, Nigeria Police Force edged UCEM VC in a thrilling five-set encounter, winning 3-2 after coming from behind, while Life Camp VC survived a tense battle against Offa VC with a 3-2 victory. Earlier, Nigeria Correctional Service rallied from a set down to defeat Nigeria Police Force 3-1, and CNS Spikers had overcome Kano Pillars 3-1 before their unbeaten run came to an end.

In the women’s competition, Nigeria Customs Service continued their dominant campaign with back-to-back 3-0 wins over Fire Service and CNS Spikers. Anambra Queens also enjoyed consecutive straight-set victories against Life Camp VC and Kada Emeralds to underline their title ambitions.
NSCDC women impressed with a comprehensive 3-0 triumph over NAF Rockets, while COAS Spikers dispatched Benue Queens in straight sets after defeating CNS Spikers 3-1 on Day 6. Fire Service bounced back from their earlier loss to Nigeria Customs Service by overcoming Excelsior VC 3-1.
Elsewhere, VIP & Partners secured a dramatic five-set victory over NSCDC on Day 6 before cruising to a straight-sets win over Life Camp VC on Day 7. Olalomi Royal Angels also registered a convincing 3-0 success against Excelsior VC, while Benue Queens recovered from their opening-set loss to defeat Kada Emeralds 3-1.
With the first phase of the league gathering momentum, the latest round of fixtures showcased the growing competitiveness of the tournament, highlighted by NSCDC’s statement victory that finally brought CNS Spikers’ unbeaten run to an end.
