Governor Ademola Adeleke officially joins the Accord Party weeks after leaving the PDP amid a leadership crisis.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke delayed his official move to the Accord Party due to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s national convention in Ibadan.
Adeleke resigned from the PDP on 4 November and joined Accord by 6 November but postponed the public announcement to avoid disrupting the PDP event.
“He didn’t want to be seen as part of the people who disrupted the event,” Alimi said, adding that the governor left the PDP over a deepening leadership crisis.
Adeleke cited the national leadership crisis as the main reason for his defection from PDP.

The PDP is currently divided into two national leadership factions. One faction, supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, held the Ibadan convention amid conflicting court rulings.
Alimi said Adeleke chose Accord because the party’s manifesto aligns with his governance style. Despite the move, he maintains support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
