Nyesom Wike confronts a military officer during a heated argument over alleged land grabbing in Gaduwa, Abuja.
A heated confrontation broke out on Tuesday between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a military officer during a visit to the Gaduwa District of Abuja, over an alleged case of land grabbing.
A viral video of the altercation captured the tense moment when Wike accused the officer of illegally taking possession of government land, allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.
“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” Wike fumed during the exchange.
The officer, dressed in military camouflage, defended his actions, saying he had acquired the land legally.
“I am an officer with integrity. Everything was acquired legally,” he said.
An irritated Wike then cut him off, ordering him to keep quiet. But the officer refused, replying, “I will not shut up.”
The verbal clash intensified, with Wike responding angrily:
“You are a very big fool. As at the time I graduated, you were still in primary school.”
Despite the confrontation, the officer maintained that he was deployed to the site on official orders.
Visibly enraged, Wike warned, “You will see if you will not leave here. Go and develop there and let me see.”
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigerian military nor the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had released an official statement regarding the incident.
