A fresh crisis has hit the Accord Party ahead of the 2027 Osun governorship election as its factional National Chairman, Professor Christopher Imumolen, declared Governor Ademola Adeleke’s nomination “illegal.”
Imumolen, a former presidential candidate of the party, said the Accord Party’s valid governorship candidate in Osun State is Clement Kolawole, not Adeleke.
“Adeleke emerged through a process that is not recognised or legal. The faction that brought him in is not in charge of the party,” he said.

Imumolen said party leaders had tried to brief Adeleke on the Accord Party’s internal leadership dispute when talks of his defection began, but those efforts failed. He alleged that Adeleke went on to conduct primaries with the rival Maxwell faction.
According to him, the party organised its own primary to avoid future legal battles and protect its chances in the election.

He also traced the crisis to the party’s national convention held in July last year, where he said he was elected National Chairman after defeating a rival candidate backed by the Maxwell faction.
He insisted that Clement Kolawole remains the Accord Party’s lawful governorship candidate in Osun State not Adeleke.
