Seyi Tinubu receives the Okanlomo of Yorubaland title from the Alaafin of Oyo at the palace in Oyo State.
Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has conferred the chieftaincy title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland on Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The ceremony took place on Sunday at the Alaafin’s palace in Oyo State and drew top political leaders, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from across Nigeria.
Alaafin said the title, which means “the beloved child of Yorubaland,” reflects trust, unity, and commitment to Yoruba values and cultural heritage.
Seyi Tinubu, a lawyer and entrepreneur, attended the event with his wife, Layal, and associates. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2013 after studying law in the United Kingdom.

At the same ceremony, former Zamfara State Governor and senator representing Zamfara West, Abdul’Aziz Yari, received the title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland.
According to the palace, the titles carry responsibilities that include promoting Yoruba culture, fostering unity, and supporting education and social welfare.
Prominent guests included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, ministers, governors, lawmakers, and traditional rulers from Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.
