Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralized Aminu Kanawa, the second-in-command to notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, along with other key commanders and fighters.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed in a statement that the military offensive, conducted between January 20 and 21, 2025, dealt a severe blow to the terrorist network operating in the North West.
Among those eliminated were close allies of Bello Turji, including his younger brother Dosso, and key commanders such as Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, and Basiru Yellow.
The troops also neutralized over 24 fleeing terrorists in Sokoto and Zamfara States, including Suleiman, a loyalist of the late terrorist leader Halilu Sububu. Suleiman was killed while leading a failed rescue mission to aid Turji’s camp.
The military described the operation as a significant setback to the terrorists’ capabilities, noting their involvement in numerous kidnappings and attacks across Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.
Major General Buba emphasized that the military remains resolute in its efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure safety and security for all citizens.
