Former Minister Chris Ngige arrives at the FCT High Court in Abuja for his EFCC arraignment on corruption charges.
Former Labour Minister Chris Ngige is set to be arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an eight-count corruption charge at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gwarinpa.
According to the charge filed by EFCC prosecutors led by Sylvanus Tahir (SAN), Ngige is accused of using his position as Minister of Labour between 2015 and 2023 to give unfair advantages to companies linked to his associates through contract awards at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

The EFCC alleges that Ngige approved multiple consultancy, training, supply, and construction contracts worth over ₦2 billion for companies connected to associates including Ezebinwa Amarachukwu Charles, Nwosu Jideofor Chukwunwike, and Uzoma Igbonwa.
He is also accused of accepting gifts totalling about ₦120 million through his campaign and scholarship organisations from NSITF contractors while serving as minister — acts the EFCC says violate the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
Ngige has not yet entered a plea.
