Global music star Burna Boy has once again made history, becoming the first Nigerian artist to earn five career Grammy nominations in album categories, a milestone that cements his place among the world’s most decorated African musicians.
The Afrobeats powerhouse’s 2025 project, No Sign of Weakness, has been nominated for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Burna Boy’s latest nomination sees him competing alongside an elite international lineup that includes Siddhant Bhatia’s Sounds of Kumbha, Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour’s Éclairer le monde: Light the World, Shakti’s Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live), Anoushka Shankar’s Chapter III: We Return to Light featuring Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar, and Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia’s Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo.
This marks Burna Boy’s fifth career nomination in the album category, following previous nods for African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020) — which earned him his first Grammy win — Love, Damini (2022), and I Told Them (2023).
The singer also received a second nomination this year in the Best African Music Performance category for his single Love, reaffirming his dominance in the global Afrobeats scene.
The category features a strong Nigerian presence, with Davido and Omah Lay earning a nod for With You, Ayra Starr and Wizkid for Gimme Dat, alongside Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope & Love, and Tyla’s Push 2 Start rounding out the list.
Burna Boy’s consistent Grammy recognition underscores his impact in redefining Afrobeats as a global sound, fusing African rhythms with hip-hop, reggae, and world music influences that have earned him international acclaim.
