Nigerian rapper Oladips has accused operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of unlawfully arresting and extorting millions of naira from him during a midnight raid on his Lagos residence in 2024.
Speaking in a recent interview, the “Lalakukulala” crooner recounted the traumatic experience, alleging that EFCC officials stormed his apartment around 3 a.m. without prior notice or a warrant.
“It was around 3 a.m. when they broke my kitchen door and gained access to my apartment,” Oladips said. “I already knew they were in the estate, operating in other people’s apartments, but I wasn’t worried because I don’t do fraud.”

He explained that the operatives demanded his laptop, but he told them he only used two mobile phones for his work. Despite finding no incriminating evidence, Oladips said he was taken into custody and detained for several days.
“I was locked up for five days in a very smelly cell but was later granted bail after paying millions,” he alleged.
The rapper also revealed that fellow artiste Zlatan Ibile supported him during his detention by ensuring he received food daily.
“Zlatan was the one sending me food every day while I was locked up,” he said, expressing gratitude for his friend’s support.
Describing the incident as “humiliating and traumatizing,” Oladips said the experience left a lasting emotional scar. He admitted he had considered suing the EFCC but decided against it due to his lack of confidence in Nigeria’s judicial system.
“I would have sued the EFCC, but you know how the system is — I would just keep spending money,” he added.
The EFCC has not issued any official statement in response to the rapper’s claims as of the time of this report.
