Actress Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has shared personal insights about her marriage, family, and career choices, while stressing the importance of independence and privacy.
In an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, Temi explained her decision to adopt her husband’s surname, Ajibade, after marrying Afrobeats star Mr Eazi. She described it as a personal choice, while acknowledging that other women may choose differently.
“I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice… I also respect a woman’s ability to choose,” she said.

On protecting her privacy, Temi emphasized that keeping her relationship low-key has allowed her to control her own narrative.
“Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready,” she explained.
Speaking about her father’s newly released memoir, Temi said the book offers readers a rare look into his decades-long entrepreneurial journey and the lessons he has learned along the way. She acknowledged that while she has gained greatly from his wisdom, the memoir now opens those insights to the wider public.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Temi admitted she cannot deny the advantages of her privileged background. However, she revealed that her father’s decision not to involve his children in his businesses—something she initially found disappointing—ultimately motivated her to build her own career path.
“His resilience during difficult times remains one of my biggest sources of motivation,” she added.
Temi’s reflections highlight not just her personal life as a young married woman, but also her determination to define her own identity beyond her family name and social status.
