
Vice President Kashim Shettima arrives in Abuja after representing President Bola Tinubu at the UN General Assembly in New York and high-level meetings in Germany.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is back in Abuja after a week of high-profile international engagements in New York and Germany, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
At the UNGA, Shettima delivered President Tinubu’s national statement, urging comprehensive reforms of the global body and advocating Africa’s sovereignty over its estimated $700 billion mineral resources.

He also held key bilateral meetings with world leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who applauded Nigeria’s push for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Beyond diplomacy, the Vice President used the global stage to market Nigeria’s investment opportunities, highlighting a $200 billion energy transition programme to attract foreign investors.
Shettima further assured members of the Nigerian diaspora community of continued inclusion in Tinubu’s policies and programmes, strengthening ties with Nigerians abroad.
The Vice President capped his trip with strategic meetings in Germany, focusing on deepening partnerships with global institutions before returning home.
