Mosunmola Mo Abudu, Nigerian media entrepreneur and one of the most powerful women in global entertainment, marked her 61st birthday today September 12.
She celebrate with tributes pouring in for her role in elevating African storytelling to the world stage.
Abudu is the founder of the EbonyLife Group, a media powerhouse spanning television, film, lifestyle, and creative education.
Through brands like EbonyLife Films, EbonyLife Studios, EbonyLife TV, EbonyLife Place, and the EbonyLife Creative Academy, she has built an empire synonymous with premium African content and cultural export.
Her journey began with Moments with Mo, Africa’s first syndicated talk show, which paved the way for EbonyLife TV in 2013 and EbonyLife Films in 2014.
Since then, she has delivered Nollywood blockbusters and global hits including Fifty, The Wedding Party series, Òlòtūré, Blood Sisters, and the recent Baby Farm.

Mo Abudu influence goes far beyond Nollywood.
Her partnerships with Netflix, BBC Studios, Sony, and the Lagos State Government have positioned her as a global media leader.
She has been profiled by CNN, BBC, and The New York Times, and her accolades include Businesswoman of the Year at the 2024 Forbes Africa Women’s Awards and a coveted spot on TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list in April 2025.
