
The remains of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, have been laid to rest, drawing an outpouring of emotions, prayers, and tributes from across the country and beyond.
It was a solemn day in Daura, Katsina State, as the body of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, was buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The funeral prayers were led by former Minister of Communications, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, and attended by family members, political figures, the Emir of Daura, government officials, and members of the diplomatic corps.

President Bola Tinubu, received dignitaries and sympathisers at the Daura residence of the late president, his predecessor and the man who handed over power to him in 2023.
The state funeral was marked by full military honours, including a 21-gun salute, reflecting the former leader’s status as a retired army general and head of state.

President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine, former Nigerien President Mahamadou Issoufou, and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were among those who received the casket at the airport tarmac.
A joint military team of pallbearers, comprising nine senior officers carried the flag-draped casket in a slow, solemn march to the hymn “God Be With You Till We Meet Again,” as a guard of honour lined their path.

The final rites drew the curtain on the life of one of Nigeria’s most influential post-independence leaders, a man who shaped the country’s political trajectory across both military and democratic dispensations.
