British-Nigerian singer Darkoo took home the award for Best Diasporan Act, thanks to her hit remix Favourite Girl featuring Rema.
In the top gender categories, Ayra Starr emerged Best Female Artist in West Africa, and Seyi Vibez won Best Male Artist. OdumoduBlvck was honoured as Best Rapper in the region.
Davido and Chris Brown also added to their accolades, winning Best Global Collaboration for their track Hmm off Chris Brown’s 11:11 album.
Afrobeats giant Burna Boy was named Best Overall Male Artist of the Year, while Grammy winner Tems took home Best Global Female African Artist.
Other notable winners include Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz as Best Global African Male Artist and South Africa’s Tyla, crowned Best Southern African Act.
