Nigeria’s Junior Female YellowGreens have reached the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division One in Tanzania after a nine-wicket win over Rwanda.
The victory at the TCA Cricket Arena was Nigeria’s fourth consecutive win in four matches, keeping the team unbeaten in the competition.
Rwanda were bowled out for 65 in 19.1 overs after Nigeria’s bowlers took control of the innings.
Captain Christabel Chukwuonye led the attack with four wickets for six runs in 3.1 overs to earn the Player of the Match award.
Peace Usen took two wickets for seven runs, including two maidens, while Jennifer Godwin also claimed two wickets for seven runs.
Nigeria then chased down the 66-run target in 10.4 overs.
After Beauty Oguai fell for two runs, Omosigho Eguakun and Shola Adekunle guided Nigeria to victory.
Eguakun finished unbeaten on 35 from 29 balls, while Adekunle made 26 not out from 26 deliveries.
Nigeria will face the winner of the second semi-final between Zimbabwe and Uganda in the final.
The Junior Female YellowGreens now need one more victory to complete an unbeaten qualifying campaign.
