Nigeria has unveiled its final 12-player squad for the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place in Kenya from August 23 to September 5.
Captain Ijeoma Ukpabi will lead the Nigerian charge, with Maryam Ibrahim, Deborah Chukwu and Mmesoma Okekearu completing the outside hitter options.
The middle blocker positions will feature Deborah Sunday, Ganiyat Lateef and Aisha Bello, while Kelechi Ndukauba and Christiana Paul have been selected as opposite hitters. Aisha Umaru and Enewa Odoh will operate as setters, with Jummai Bitrus named as the team’s libero.
The squad will be guided by head coach Elishama Elam, assisted by Olusegun Abinde, while Sunday Akapson will serve as the setters trainer.
With a mix of experience and emerging talent, Nigeria will be aiming to make a strong statement in Kenya and challenge the continent’s leading volleyball nations for the African crown.
The championship brings together Africa’s best women’s volleyball teams, with Nigeria hoping to translate its preparation and squad depth into a deep run and a serious push for continental honours.
