Ex Minister of Power, Selah Mamman
A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, on 12 counts of money laundering brought against him by Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Mr Mamman was absent from court when the ruling was delivered.
The former minister, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari between August 2019 and September 2021, was accused of diverting and laundering public funds linked to the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.

Prosecutors alleged that Mr Mamman conspired with government officials and private companies to divert money earmarked for electricity infrastructure projects.
Justice Omotosho said the court was satisfied with the evidence presented by the prosecution before finding the former minister guilty on all counts.
The case is one of several high-profile corruption prosecutions connected to Nigeria’s power sector, which has long faced allegations of financial mismanagement, abandoned projects and weak electricity supply despite repeated government investments.
