Bola Tinubu has sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance during a brief ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
The oath of office was administered at the President’s office in Aso Rock at about 2:30 p.m., according to a source who attended the ceremony. The development comes five days after the Senate confirmed Oyedele’s nomination.
Earlier, Oyedele and his wife were seen arriving at the Villa around 2:09 p.m., after clearing security checks. The new minister appeared in a navy-blue suit, while his wife wore white traditional attire.

The Senate had on Wednesday, March 12, approved Oyedele’s appointment following a screening session that lasted more than two hours. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the confirmation after lawmakers, sitting as the Committee of the Whole, adopted the committee’s recommendation through a voice vote.
President Tinubu had earlier transmitted Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate on March 3 in a letter addressed to Akpabio, seeking legislative confirmation in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution.
Oyedele, 50, is from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State and has more than two decades of experience in fiscal policy and tax administration. Before his appointment, he served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system.
