Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed clashes linked to the ongoing communal conflict between the Chobo community and Bachaman community.
The restriction, announced late Sunday, is the fourth curfew declared in the area in less than six months as authorities attempt to contain escalating violence.
In a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humeashi Wonosikou, the government confirmed the immediate enforcement of the measure.
“Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect. This follows renewed violent attacks and breach of peace in some communities within the area,” the statement said.

The governor described the disturbances as unacceptable and directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly.
“Government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” Fintiri stated.
He warned that anyone or group found violating the directive would face arrest and prosecution under the law.
“The curfew is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice. Governor Fintiri has also directed security agencies to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order in the area,” the statement added.
Residents have been urged to comply with the restrictions and assist security agencies with information that could help restore peace.
Governor Fintiri also appealed to residents to cooperate with authorities as the government works to stabilise the situation.
“The government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the statement said.
