The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election.
The result was announced at about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday at the INEC area office in Karu, Abuja.
The AMAC Collation Officer, Andrew Abue, said Mr Maikalangu, the incumbent chairman, secured 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast to win the election.
According to INEC, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 3,398 votes.

Mr Maikalangu’s victory strengthens the APC’s hold on AMAC, one of the most politically significant councils in the Federal Capital Territory.
The outcome is expected to shape local governance in Abuja, as residents look to the council to address key issues such as sanitation, infrastructure, and community services.
