Kwara State College of Education, Oro, reopened on February 2 after weeks of closure over security concerns.
Kwara State College of Education, Oro, has resumed academic and administrative activities following improved security conditions in the area.
The reopening followed a directive from the Kwara State Government and was confirmed in an internal memorandum issued on Monday.
The memo, dated February 2, 2026, and signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Publicity, Mrs Lawal Taibat Saka-Bolanta, announced that the institution had reopened with immediate effect.
It stated that both staff and students were to return as academic and administrative activities would begin immediately.

The college had been shut weeks earlier due to security threats in Irepodun Local Government Area, forcing students to vacate the campus and disrupting academic work.
The reopening aligns with the state government’s decision to reopen schools across Kwara State after months of closure linked to insecurity.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development said security conditions had improved, though vigilance would be maintained.
The government said ongoing security operations and community engagement efforts were helping to restore calm in previously affected areas.
Parents and education stakeholders had earlier raised concerns over student safety during the closure, which was introduced as a precaution against banditry and kidnapping in parts of the state.
