South African pop star Tyla has further cemented her place on the global stage after winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, edging out a competitive field dominated by Nigerian heavyweights.
The singer secured the honour with her track Push 2 Start, triumphing over Burna Boy’s “Love”, Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat”, as well as “Hope & Love” by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

Introduced to amplify African sounds internationally, the category once again highlighted Nigeria’s strong influence, with Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr accounting for three of the final nominees.
Tyla’s latest victory marks her second win in the category, following her historic debut triumph in 2024 with Water, which made her the inaugural recipient. The back-to-back success underscores her growing impact and consistency as one of Africa’s most influential global music exports.
