Kano State Government, through the Kano State Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (KNCDC), has carried out a public health awareness campaign and free medication distribution in Durmawa community, Bebeji Local Government Area, following reports of suspected whooping cough cases.
The outreach exercise took place on Thursday in the Durmawa area of Tiga as part of the state’s response to early warning signals of a possible infectious disease outbreak.
According to a statement issued by the Director-General of KNCDC, Prof. Muhammad Abbas, the intervention was aimed at preventing the spread of the disease and ensuring early treatment for affected residents.
Speaking during the visit, Abbas said the agency was acting on reports of suspected cases of an infectious disease believed to be whooping cough, particularly among children.
